Rosehip Tea with Honey

Rosehip tea is great for boosting your immune system when you are feeling like you are feeling under the weather.

How to Make Rosehip Tea

In the Fall, after the first frost, I go out and gather the rose hips off the bushes.

You want to gather the brightly coloured ones, before they turn black. before they start to turn black.

Wash them off.

Let the dry on a paper towel for a few hours so they are not wet when put into the dehydrator

Dehydrate until they look almost flakey.

Cool on the trays for a few hours because they will be quite hot..

When they are cool, put them in a glass jar container.

Tip:  I always add silica packs in too.

To make the Tea

Add about 3 or 4 hips for a big mug of tea.

Pour boiling water over them.

This tea doesn’t have a strong flavour.

Add hibiscus dried flowers for added flavour since the hibiscus flowers have a lot of flavour and the taste is very complementary.

I like to drink this with fresh raw honey.

A few fascinating facts about Rose Hips

Rosehips are a member of the family Rosa (the Rose Family)

They are very high in vitamin C and also contain vitamins A, E, K and Manganese.
